I live at The Chocolate Works, South Bank, York and oversee landscaping across the development on behalf of the residents association. We have a small budget for discreet landscaping projects each year, and I am pleased to be able to say that Dave Gregory and his team at Rylands Horticulture Ltd are joining us on this venture. They have just completed our first two projects for us in 2023/2024, and we are very pleased with their work and they are happy to accommodate all of our needs. Great service by Dave and his team in cutting our boundary leylandi and thorn hedge. First time we have used a contractor to undertake this work as it was becoming too much for us . All the cutting was carried out to high standard by the team and to our requirements. Polite and professional staff leaving the site clear of all cuttings. The Ryland team have just pruned my beloved birch tree. The guys were professional, friendly and took great care. They arrived on time, and even on quite a gusty, rainy day, did the job quickly. Importantly, they listened to what I wanted as well as advising what might be better, a good discussion before and during the work. So both parties were happy, with some compromise on either side but mostly we were in agreement! Everything was cleared away and left clean. A dramatic transformation of our previously overgrown, leaking and unsightly pond to what is now a truly delightful area of the garden. Despite the recent hot weather and the hugely messy initial task, Stuart, Mark and Elliott cheerfully did a superb job, made excellent suggestions as the work progressed and tidied up faultlessly. This was a big job and consequently not cheap (to be honest we initially balked a bit at the quotation) -- but actually having seen the amount of effort involved at first-hand, the quality of work done, and the amount of materials needed, it was excellent value for money. We have used Dave and his team at Ryland Horticulture in the past for tree work and they are without doubt excellent and professional. This is echoed in all the other Google reviews I have seen. This review concerns their landscaping skills. I have to say that they are utterly superb. From a basic idea and sketch the Ryland Team have transformed our garden. The photos attached to this review speak volumes. From inception to completion we have been totally satisfied and the finished job exceeds our expectations. In summary, Ryland Horticulture are professional, competitive, knowledgable, courteous, tidy, considerate and an absolute pleasure to work with. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending them.

Fantastic service from start to finish. We had a line of trees blocking light to the rear of our garden. Dave came to give us some advice and a quote for their removal. Although Ryland weren't the cheapest, we were impressed by Dave's professionalism. There were no high pressure sales techniques and Dave gave us an honest and simple quote. When the day of works arrived it was pouring with rain and we were half expecting a call to cancel. Instead the work gang turned up spot on time and cheerfully worked through all the horrible weather. They did a great job, much more quickly than we were expecting and cleared up after themselves perfectly. In fact they left the site tidier than when they had arrived! I would not hesitate to use Ryland again and would happily recommend them to anyone who needed horticultural works done to a high standard at a fair price.

We have an Italian Alder tree at the end of our garden which needed some work as a number of the branches were spreading across adjacent properties. The whole process from the estimate to the work being carried out was superb. The two lads who attended did a great job and the tree now looks in a much better shape. The removed branches were taken away and everything was left very tidy after the job had been completed. I would highly recommend Ryland and would certainly use them again for any future work.
